Text link ads

There are hundreds affiliate programs out there and they all claim to be the best. A lot of them will try to give you the impression that all you have to do is copy and paste their banners and links then wait for the money to start pouring in. Sometimes this can be the case, but this type of scenario normally applies to a large established site that already has a lot of traffic.

Choosing banners
Most of the affiliate programs will offer you a variety of banners to place on your website. Consider them carefully as very few of them will be effective. The problem with most banners are their size. If you choose a banner that is a large size, it will take a longer time to load up on your site. I recommend that you use the modest size banners and be more descriptive with your text. The SERPS will penalize your site for slow loading.

When you select any type of graphic advertising, keep the theme of your website in mind. Even though graphics are meant to stand out and catch a person鈥檚 eye, they shouldn't be overwhelming everything else on the page. Don鈥檛 forget, there are penalties for slow loading pages.

Pop ups and unders
A lot of merchants now give their affiliates the choice of using pop up or pop under ads. In most opinions, pop ups aren't the way to go. They can easily annoy visitors and are normally closed out by the visitor before they even have the chance to load. If you feel you must use this strategy, go for pop-unders and use the type that only display once per visit.

Text link ads
One of the most successful and easiest means of advertising is text link ads. They are easy on bandwidth, don't use a lot of space, and they are easy to implement into most types of page layouts. Good text links should offer some information about where your visitor is going should they investigate your offers.

Email advertising
The direct promotion through e-mail marketing has really paid off over the last several years. But along with some very successful campaigns it has also brought tons of spam abuse with it. If you plan to use e-mail as a method of advertising your products it should be with a double opt-in list that you have built yourself. Do not buy a list from someone. You are just asking for trouble if you do. Make sure you stand behind what you sell and make yourself available to answer any questions.

Have Patience
If you build and present your website in a professional manner, do your on page SEO and continue to advertise your site, the business will come.

The reality remains that most affiliates can't deliver what they promise, and if you do, then you are way ahead of the competition.

You should always keep in mind that most forms of advertising will take time. No matter what methods
you use. Give it some time before you make any type of decision. It may not happen overnight - but it very well could.
